3.28.2025 - The Disdain for the Future
Share
I notice a lot of online discourse is the hate of AI art. Often times I wonder if these are bots or if people genuinely hate it. Is it the fans of artist who believe they wont be able to compete? Who truly hates this innovation?
I see this similar to the hate that CGI garnered when it was first wildly introduced. As it was sprinkled on from time to time, or when animatronix was shown. There are always critics.
Yet for the artist that are scared of AI, why not lean into it?
I find that those that fall to the wayside are those that fail to utilize all the advantages of the world. Yes there will be those that persist and show true craftmanship that cannot be replicated not in style but in effort. People cling to those who battle the established dogma and one in a 100 million will come out as a stand out and will be slated as the golden standard. Of what people can achieve if they dont use the tools at their disposal and to persevere in the old ways.
Sometimes my cynical view is that these are commodified hate that allows those who are taking advantage to reap the benefits first prior to mass adoption.
Can we really harbor hate for the future and its inevitability?
What is this push to slow progress? Is this really just the steps we take as a species with any change? What happens when the change is incrementally fast paced? What if we harbor hate for this AI art and its perceived effort but once we come to a consensus the AI art in question is beyond obsolete. That we hate at model 1 when we are already fielding model 11? Does hate transcend and go directly to model 11 and just quickly adopt models 2-10?
I ask this as you will notice there is a mix in our website.
You will see traditional paintings, writings from myself and others, you will see hand drawn stickers and designs but you will also see AI. You will see AI art and AI insights to topics I ponder on. I will not mark it as AI. It is up to you in interpret each item on here and what value you attain from it and if that value is diminished if it comes from a source you distrust.
I cannot hate progress, I cannot fear progress, if I am to think on the future my mind must already be there.

I wanted to add on this a different perspective.
Imagine an individual that is paralyzed completely, who always wanted to create art.
They use ChatGPT to write what they see in their brain via a mind link. They pour hours and hours and hundreds of hours to perfectly capture the painting or visual image they imagined via ChatGPT,
Is this not art? Are they talent less? Could you mimic what they created by a simple prompt? What is effort and who are the arbiters of effort?
I rarely hate but I severely disdain those who can only see their own fears and faults in others.
